Is an electric van really cheaper than diesel overall?
For most South West operators, yes: charging overnight typically costs a quarter or less per mile of diesel, servicing is simpler (and free for 4 years on the SV via the AA), and the £5,000 Plug-in Van Grant cuts the purchase price. Use the calculator above with your own numbers.
What about the higher purchase price of electric vans?
The gap has closed sharply, and the Plug-in Van Grant (up to £5,000) closes it further. Most operators covering 12,000+ miles a year reach break-even well inside the 4-year warranty period on fuel savings alone.
Do electric vans pay Clean Air Zone charges?
No. Bristol and Bath both operate CAZs charging non-compliant vans up to £9 a day. A fully electric SV enters free: worth over £2,300 a year for a five-day-a-week city round.
How long does an electric van battery last?
The Farizon SV's battery is warranted for 8 years. Modern LFP-chemistry packs routinely outlast the vans they power.
